The Napoleon High School Advanced Chemistry class visited the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University. FRIB is a world-leading user facility that enables scientists to create and examine short-lived isotopes to understand nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, and fundamental interactions. The facility's powerful heavy-ion accelerator allows for the production of a wide range of rare isotopes, expanding our knowledge of the nuclear chart and potentially leading to applications in medicine, materials science, and national security. Students had the opportunity to witness cutting-edge science in action and learn about the fascinating world of nuclear physics.
