Superintendent Search
The search for a new superintendent began in February after the current superintendent, James E. Graham, announced his retirement at the end of the school year. Under the guidance of Mr. Jay Bennett, MASB Assistant Director of Executive Search Services, the NCS Board of Education has considered feedback from staff and the community as part of the selection process.
NAPOLEON COMMUNITY SCHOOLS SELECTS
PATRICK DILLON TO LEAD DISTRICT
PRESS/MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 29, 2025
Napoleon Community Schools Board of Education has selected Patrick Dillon to be the district’s next superintendent. “Pat is a proven and experienced educational leader whose passion for public education and student focus will continue the district's tradition of high expectations and promoting the success of all students,” stated board president Jason Breining. “The board is confident that Dillon’s vision and ‘growth mind set’ will continue us on our journey to excellence.”
Dillon brings with him to the position considerable experience as an administrator in districts across Michigan. The high school principal of Napoleon since 2008, Dillon has fostered innovation and helped maintain high standards and traditions in the Napoleon Schools. Prior to that, Dillon served as a high school principal in Gladwin, Assistant Principal in Essexville-Hampton, Athletic Director in Vassar and a teacher throughout the greater Jackson area.
Consistent with Napoleon Schools values, the selection was supported by an inclusive process. Selection criteria were generated based upon the input of numerous community members, parent, and staff via an online survey. Community members provided immediate feedback to board members during preliminary and final face-to-face candidate interviews. Additionally, administrators, faculty, students, and parents provided input following a series of structured stakeholder conversations. The board of education appreciates the district’s citizens and staff support of the process.
Dillon and the board of education are currently in the process of contract negotiations, with the new superintendent expected to assume the position July 1, 2025.
