Pirates on the Job, Junior Achievement Job Shadow Event

Napoleon partnered up with Junior Achievement today and paired 47 students with 20 different businesses to give our students an opportunity to shadow some prospective careers they were interested in. These ranged from careers in welding, electricians, automotive, chiropractors, educators, dentists, nurses, lawyers, and several more. We had multiple students be offered opportunities to get their foot in the door and begin summer jobs, co-ops, and apprenticeships from this opportunity. This is what some of our students had to say about the event:

- I would recommend doing this again next year, and the years that follow. This opportunity opened up so much for me. I had a great time. The chef I was working with was very kind, very understanding, and very helpful. Things went well for me today, I got a job offer. The chef told me that I was good at what I was doing and that I worked at a quicker pace than the others that he had. He said that I would most likely fit in with the crew that works there. Overall I had a great time.

-Lilly Wiley @ Veritas as a Chef

-I had an amazing experience with Dr. Hubbard and his team at Journey Chiropractic. His team was super nice and created a very friendly and inviting atmosphere for us to learn in. We were shown the different parts of chiropractic care and got to watch each step. They provided many chances for us to watch different people get adjusted and ask any questions.

-Sadie Moeckel @ Journey Chiropractic

-I had a great time and I got a job offer to work in the summer.

-Brena Brooks @ Country Market as a Pastry Chef

-We did oil changes, valve cover changed, spark plugs replaced.

-Kody Burke @ Jims as a Mechanic

-I got told to come in and apply for a summer job that would be a great fit! I actually really enjoyed  going to visit a plus electric at ross design. Joel was a great tour guide.

-Matthew Smith at A+ Electric as an Electrician.

-The welding at Ross engineering was amazing. I learned how to MiG weld and the instructor was great.

-Blake Watson at Ross Engineering as a Welder
