Letter from Mrs. Russell
Hello Pirate Families,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. Most of you may know me as the 6th grade math teacher but I am very pleased to be able to introduce myself as your principal this year.
I believe middle school is a time of great growth for students and is full of potential. Students have an opportunity at the start of each new year to decide how they will approach school that year. They can change it, keep it the same, or make it better.
I believe that parents and families are the first teachers and have the most interest in seeing their children succeed. With that in mind, I would like to encourage families to actively participate in their students’ education and extracurricular activities.
As Mr. Johns brought some really great ideas to our building last year, I have decided to work within that same framework. Our building will focus on the following four tenets.
Respect Everyone: I will always do my best to treat everyone with respect and the expectation is that everyone in our building will do the same.
Be Here: Consistent attendance is an important component of being able to keep up with lessons and to be a good student. In general, it is much easier to keep up than it is to catch up; good attendance is key to keeping on top of school work.
Give a Great Effort: There are few things in life that a person has complete control over. Two of those things are attitude and effort. Giving a great effort will always be a benefit.
Be Kind: Along with respecting everyone, I expect that we will be kind to one another. It isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it.
I plan to work hard to make the most of the potential of this school year. If we treat each new day as a new opportunity to be here, show respect, put in a great effort, and be kind to someone else, together we can make 2023-24 a great school year.
As always, it is a great day to be a Napoleon Pirate!
